Dana Loesch Rocks the Tucson Tea Party

Cross posted at ttpdaily.com

Dana walked out to Def Leppard's "Let's Get Rocked" and the temperature was turned up from there. Pop some corn, hit play. Dana skewer's the old stream media for being lying liars after the Tucson shooting. They were more than willing to blame talk radio, Sarah Palin and the Tea Party before any facts were in.

Dana also encouraged the Tucson crowd reminding us that we are not alone. The St. Louis Tea Party and Tea Party's across America stand with us.

Thank you Dana for being willing to go into the lion's den with your conservatism and debate skills. You are welcome back to Tucson anytime!

California vs. Texas

This was originally posted at the Tucson Tea Party's new blog

They say everything is bigger in Texas. That is not entirely true. Texas has a much smaller unemployment rate than the rest of the country and a smaller deficit too. Their deficit is so small, it's a surplus!

Compare that to California that excels in joblessness and deficit spending. How did the Golden State squander their gold while Texas is thriving in the the worst economy in a generation?

One only look as far as the ideals that have brought Americans out on the streets asking Washington D.C., pleading really, to shrink the size of Government, lower taxes and embrace fiscal responsibility. The Tucson Tea Party Peeps have been pointing out what Texas is proving. Less really is more when it comes to government and resulting prosperity.

Mark Hemingway shows the contrast between the Golden and Lone Star states in the first of his 5 part series, "Texas booms while California busts." He compares the two states philosophies and behaviors, and the very different results they bring. From the article:

While Texas has been affected by the economic downturn, its 7.9 percent unemployment rate is well below the national average of 9.8. At 12 percent, unemployment in California is well above average.

Perhaps the most dramatic illustration of Texas’ superiority is that Americans have been stating their preference for the Lone Star State with their feet.

Between 2000 and 2009, California had a domestic outflow of 1.5 million people, while Texas had 850,000 move in from other states. From 2008 to 2009, Texas’ population inflow was double that of any other state.

So how have two similar states ended up in such radically different situations? The answer is smaller government.

What Texas is doing “appears as right-wing science fiction to many California legislators and pundits. They claim that serious reform of the tax code is unrealistic, that a large state has many duties to fulfill, and that it is irresponsible to call for a return to a 19th century view of the role of government,” write economists Arthur B. Laffer, Stephen Moore and Jonathan Williams in their annual report “Rich States, Poor States.”

Texas has no state income tax or personal capital gains tax and a small 1 percent gross receipts tax on business. In contrast, California’s 10.3 percent personal income tax is the second highest in the country, and the Golden’s State’s top marginal rates for corporate income and capital gains are 8.84 and 10.55 percent, respectively.

Unfortunately Washington D.C. and the Federal Government aren't listening to the Tea Party and aren't following the real world example of Texas. Instead they continue down the California path that instead of being paved with gold is littered with printed money borrowed from our kids and grandkids.

We the People of the Tucson Tea Party will be back out there holding our signs, peacefully assembling for principles that are obviously and demonstrably right. For a country that is seeking answers we only need to examine the bad and good examples being set by California and Texas.

Tea Party Racist? Black Conservatives Respond

As an off white male (I’m 1/2 Italian and tan very well in the Summer :-) the charge of racism is kind of like, “so, how long have you been beating your wife?”  I could respond with, “well, some of my best friends are black,” but doesn’t that just sound lame.  The charge of racism has been so over used lately so as to lose it’s punch, but it can still put an off white American on defense for no good reason.

I’ll just let Black Conservatives talk for me:

and then there was James T. Harris that I recorded at the Tucson Tea Party on April 15, 2010.

I’ll leave you with a scripture and a thought.

1 Samuel 16:7
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

It’s like Martin Luther King, Jr’s dream speech. Someday we will get to the point in this country where people are judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. I’d say that some liberals and some in the liberal media have some catching up to do.

Arizona Health Care Freedom Act

American’s for Prosperity and the Tucson Tea Party teamed up to bring, “Townhall on How to Stop Obamacare in Arizona” to the El Conquistador Resort in Oro Valley. Dr. Eric Novack is a pediatrician who was instrumental in writing the Arizona Health Care Freedom Act that will be on the ballot in November. In this clip, Dr. Novack talks about the two main protections Arizonans would receive under the act.

In this clip, Dr. Eric Novack takes a two-part question on whether Obamacare will cover illegal aliens and whether abortions will be paid for by taxpayers.

Arizona to Join Suit Against Federal Government

Earlier today the Associated Press reported:

Arizona’s Democratic Attorney General Terry Goddard said Wednesday he won’t join lawsuits filed by other states’ attorneys general to challenge the federal health care overhaul, but Republican Gov. Jan Brewer plans to pursue a lawsuit even without Goddard’s involvement.

Tonight in Oro Valley we got news of how the Governor plans to do just that:

If Fox News’ Judge Andrew Napolitano is right then Goddard has a point. At the same time, Arizona is still a red state and the Governor is following the wishes of the people, as well as her own convictions, no doubt.

It’s striking to me how the Democrats went ahead and passed Obamacare against a clear majority of the American people. Are they not concerned that now dozens of states are filling suit against the Federal Government?

As Al Melvin said in the video, America is still strong, but it is being pushed to the limit. This next election is another in a line of “most important elections” ever.

Signs of the Times

There’s “Astroturf” and then there’s American ingenuity and creativity.  Here’s a look at the Tucson Tea Party event held in front of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ office at 4-7 p.m. compared to the Breakfast & Rally for Health Care Reform event held at the same place at 8 a.m.

Congresswoman Giffords Moves Meeting

Have you Seen Her?

Have you Seen Her?

Gabrielle Giffords’ office has canceled an appearance in Green Valley/Sahuarita.  She’s moving her meeting on veterans issues to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson.  The Green Valley News and Sun says (emphasis mine):

Giffords had planned to spend Thursday in the area, including a visit to American Legion Post #66 in Sahuarita.

Her staff on Monday said she has combined that appearance and another at Pima Community College into one at the base at 6 p.m. Thursday.  Those attending must RSVP through her Tucson office at 881-3588 to get base access.

Giffords will still attend a private event Thursday at “a retirement community” in the Green Valley/Sahuarita area, though her communications director, C.J. Karamargin, would not disclose details.

Oh my. Congresswoman Giffords is going to extraordinary lengths to avoid being faced with a crowd.  Instead of facing her own constituents, she has decided to hide behind the gates of a military base!  Even if some opponents do manage to RSVP through Gifford’s office (I don’t know if they are screening participants in any way) this move severely limits access to the congresswoman, and eliminates the possibility of a demonstration outside.

Here’s my bottom line.  I don’t want the Congresswoman to feel unsafe in any way.  I DO want her to realize that her vote on Obamacare is being watched VERY closely.  Speaking for myself, I got fired up when she voted for Cap & Trade.  If she votes in favor of Obamacare as well, Mrs. Giffords has to know she will not remain in Congress.  She represents us.  Are you listening Congresswoman Giffords?  I hope so.

Tucson Tea Party Event – August 6, 2009

Gabrielle Giffords, (D)-Arizona’s 8th Congressional District was scheduled to appear at an event in downtown Tucson. According to the Arizona Star

Giffords’ campaign sponsored Cinema La Placita this week, which is a movie night held each Thursday. The movie shown was “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.”

The Tucson Tea Party’s official web site says that Representative Giffords’ campaign misrepresented the truth when they told Fox 11 News that the Congresswoman never planned to attend the event.

Gabrielle Giffords sent out a message in her “Cactus Roots Connection” newsletter about her intended appearance at the event, saying: “Come join me and others in watching this classic film… Hope to see you there! Thank you again for your support! Sincerely yours, Gabrielle Giffords.”

AgapeMedia.net was at La Placita and put together the following video and pictures:

Tammy Bruce at the Tucson Tea Party, July 4, 2009

Tammy Bruce had a few things to say at the Tucson Tea Party. You can listen to the whole thing here. Runs just under 35 minutes:

Tammy Bruce Speech

If you’d like to use the audio on your broadcast or blog, it’s fine with me, but I would appreciate it if you give AgapeMedia.net and /or ShortForOrdinary.com credit. Thanx!

Below are 6 video clips of the same speech. It’s pretty much the whole thing. I started a couple of minutes in on part one because people jumped in front of me and the camera work was pretty chaotic while I moved into position. Otherwise, enjoy!

Tucson Tea Party – July 4, 2009

It was a celebration of freedom! The freedom that our Founding Fathers wrested from the tyranny of King George’s England 233 years ago. It was that spirit that fueled the cheers of thousands of Tucsonans (reportedly 5,000 attendees) at the Independence Day Tea Party. There was politicking, plenty of water and shaved ice, and there were signs. Lot’s of signs!

I took a few pictures so you can get a taste for yourself.

Click here for audio and video of the speech given by conservative talk show host, Tammy Bruce.
