Yuma Trip – 7/25 to 7/27/08

My sister Karin decided to hold their visit to Dad’s over for another week. That meant I got to go see her, her kids, Dad and Mom for a third weekend in a row! We had a blast once again. I didn’t take a lot of pictures, but these will give you a taste of the fun we had. Click on any pic for an 800×600 version.

Batter Up

Saturday we slept in. Had a morning swim. Went for afternoon ice cream! We topped the day off with a night at the ballpark! Yuma Scorpions 8, St. George Roadrunners 6.

Smilin'

Hayden was having a hard time hiding his excitement. OK. He was hamming it up for the camera! Still, he was having a fun time like the rest of us.

Play Misters for Me

It was hot. Not bad by Yuma standards, but still 104 or something when the game started just before Sunset. The misters helped a lot with the heat. By the later innings they had to turn ‘em off because it was causing fog to form!

Rounding Third

After the game the kids got to run the bases and get their free genuine leather baseballs signed! Here’s Nicholas and Hayden rounding third.

Home Stretch

Here’s Hayden rounding third. He is a natural sprinter and already fast for his age. Great form.

Saguaro Smiles

On the way back to the van the kids posed for a, “Here we are by the cactus” shot. Very good for show and tell in Oregon.

No Roadrunners

The very first thing the next morning Nicholas and Anna and I set out for the desert hoping to spot some wildlife, especially roadrunners. We walked for maybe an hour and no roadrunners. We got close to a bunch of buzzards, scared up a jackrabbit, uncovered a lizard and saw a bunch of doves. On the way home we stopped by this cactus to pose.

I know it's in here somewhere...

After our hike it was coffee and conversation. Hayden was looking on as Mom was look for a plant name in her book o’ plants. I was taking the picture. The second coffee cup was mine, not Nick’s :-) Then we went swimming and even saved a bee from the water! That’s another story.

but you can't hide...

Hayden was a little upset that we let him sleep rather than take him hiking. We made up for it by going on another hike in the afternoon. Here he is trying to dodge the camera by the pool.

Later we went for ice cream again. Karin and I split two games of chess. I took a nap. The whole weekend was AWESOME!
